Atlantic Health System, which employs 18,000 team members to support nearly 5,000 affiliated physicians, has what it calls a Culture of Extraordinary Caring that extends beyond the patients it serves. Its Caring for the Caregiver Peer Support initiative connects workers with trained peer responders to discuss concerns, while the company’s CEO-led Resilience Committee is aimed at developing resources to help employees manage stress and burnout. “One thing that makes this organization special is how management goes above and beyond to make each team member feel recognized. We have an intranet page where team members can post accomplishments, fun facts, shout-outs, etc.,” says one employee who also loves the small things Atlantic Health Systems does for its staff, from gifting plants on Earth Day to ice cream socials in the summer.
