Amazon in Fortune Rankings

Amazon.com was incorporated in 1994; in 2026, it became the world's biggest company by revenue. It is the largest e-commerce retailer in the U.S. and a player in the grocery business, owing in part to its ownership of the Whole Foods supermarket chain. The company offers cloud services through its Amazon Web Services segment. Amazon develops and produces media content, much of which it streams through its Amazon Prime membership program; in 2021, it acquired the studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). Amazon also makes and sells electronic devices including the Kindle e-book reader and Echo “smart speaker.”
