Ally Financial is a leading digital financial service and began operations in 1919 as GMAC, a lending arm of General Motors. It then rebranded to its current name in 2010 in the wake of the financial crisis. Ally’s major divisions include dealer services, corporate finance, insurance, and digital banking. In early 2025, it began winding down its mortgage operations. Its dealer services segment is the nation’s largest bank auto finance operation, and overall Ally Bank is the largest all-digital bank in the U.S.
