Alight, a cloud-based human capital technology provider, offers payroll solutions to about 36 million customers in over 180 countries and 25 languages. Recently, it became the first global payroll provider to move its services onto the cloud as opposed to on-premises. The company has been focused on minimizing layoffs through employee incentives, like giving workers the option to reduce their working hours during summer months, or take sabbaticals or additional voluntary unpaid leave to help reduce company costs. In 2022, it launched its first internal open house for colleagues to connect with company leaders and mentorship opportunities and bolster the company’s internal pipeline to jobs—as a result, a record 25% of all jobs were filled internally.
