Alcoa, or the Aluminum Company of America, is one of the world’s largest producers of bauxite, alumina, and aluminum, with operations spanning mining, refining, smelting, casting, and energy generation. The company became the world’s first mass producer of aluminum after founder Charles Martin Hall discovered the Hall-Héroult process, the method still used today. The company was founded in 1886. It went public in 2016 after splitting from what is now Arconic, which focuses on metals engineering and manufacturing.
