At Accenture, the pandemic prompted an expansion in benefits for staff who were juggling care for children and parents—and the creation of a team of caseworkers to help employees find and manage care options. That came alongside a further push into pro bono and career development work. The company used its consulting services to help school districts from Detroit to Baltimore develop a plan for reopening for free. Meanwhile, Accenture funded paid virtual internships for students at six nonprofits in six cities, and created over 300 apprenticeships in 30+ cities online for historically underrepresented workers entering corporate America.
