He grew his business, named it American Building Maintenance Company, and soon expanded beyond just cleaning to other facility maintenance services, including electrical engineering and HVAC installation. The company went public in 1965 and renamed itself to ABM Industries in 1994. Now its customers include retail businesses, aviation companies, and even school districts.
