This Washington-based information technology company fosters a companywide sense of inclusion and development, starting when new hires first walk in the door.

New employees are paired with an onboarding buddy who can answer questions and make connections, and with a mentor to familiarize them with the nuances of company culture.

Tanium strives to develop capable leaders with the “Managing@Tanium” program. The program includes segments on hiring, onboarding, performance and development, engagement, and rewards and recognition.

Because 96% of employees are eligible to work a hybrid or fully remote schedule, Tanium provides regular opportunities for team members across the company to virtually meet one another. There are regional Slack channels tied to office locations that host weekly trivia nights, invite employees to “office days,” and offer a platform for employees to connect with other team members who live near them.

When reopening offices in 2022, Tanium made sustainability a priority: eliminating plastic, building a plumbing system to accommodate drink machines that reduce the need for single-use plastic bottles, and adding more options for recycling and composting. The company also eliminated janitorial supplies containing volatile organic compounds, and transitioned from a fully catered lunch to an ordering service sourced from local restaurants.
