  • 31 August 2020, Saxony, Trebendorf: Lignite is transported via a conveyor belt in the Nochten opencast mine. The energy company Leag has begun preparations for demolition work in the Lusatian village in order to be able to excavate lignite there. In spite of the coal phase-out agreed until 2038, Mühlrose is to be one of the last places to make way for open-cast mining, because from the end of the 2020s the lignite lying below the village is to be extracted by the Nochten open-cast mine. This is to secure the long-term supply of the Boxberg power plant site. Around 200 inhabitants are affected, for whom building plots are currently being developed in the neighbouring community of Schleife.
