Leah Weckert took over as Coles Group CEO in May 2023, becoming the first woman to lead the Australian supermarket giant since its 1914 founding. Coles operates over 850 stores and other businesses including liquor stores, insurance, and credit. The supermarket chain generated 45.6 billion Australian dollars ($32 billion) in its 2026 fiscal year, a 2.8% jump. But after an Australian court ruled in May that Coles' "Down Down" discounts misled shoppers, Weckert's pay was docked by 414,000 Australian dollars ($291,000).
