Outside of the U.S., China is home to the most McDonald's outlets worldwide, and overseeing them all is Phyllis Cheung, who started off as chief marketing officer of its China unit in 2007 before becoming its chief in 2015. Under her watch, the Golden Arches rolled out a franchised business model that sent its store count soaring to 6,300 in June, up from 2,200 in 2015. This hunger for expansion continues unabated with a new goal of 10,000 outlets by 2028.
