Carabao, maker of Thai energy drink Carabao Dang, was launched in 2002 by singer Yuenyong Opakul, frontman of the band Carabao, and business partners Sathien Sathientham and Nutchamai Thanombooncharoen, who owned Tawandang German Brewery. Two decades on, Nutchamai heads the $2.1 billion drinkmaker. Known for its sponsorship of the English Football League, Carabao's flagship product is sold in over 40 countries and is especially popular in Cambodia. Though the company's profits sank in fiscal 2023 on rising raw material prices, its bottom line rose 77% in the first half of 2024.
