Under Anne Tse, CEO of China for PepsiCo, sales in China for the soft drink and snacks giant have climbed ever since the pandemic, reaching $2.7 billion for fiscal 2023. Tse, who joined the strategy division of Pepsi's Chinese unit in 2010 after nearly a decade at McKinsey, was named country chief in 2021. This year she gained an additional appointment as APAC chief consumer officer. China is Pepsi's fifth-biggest market, and it sees opportunity there for more growth among Chinese consumers. It recently set aside $180 million for its 10th local production factory, which will also meet net-zero standards as part of a wider corporate goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
