China is a critical region for Nike, with its Greater China segment accounting for 15% of Nike's overall revenues in fiscal 2024, its second-largest market. Running the unit for nearly a decade is Angela Dong, a P&G and Coca-Cola alum who faces challenges including sluggish consumer spending and stiff competition from the likes of Li-Ning and Lululemon. Nike China's $7.55 billion fiscal 2024 revenues moved little from 2022. Dong's response? Double down on innovation to set the swoosh apart: It's opening a research lab in Shanghai this year that will draw insights from Chinese athletes and consumers to create products exclusively for China.
