When ­McKeever launched Ides Capital last summer, she became the only woman running an activist hedge fund that’s shaking up U.S. companies (read more about her here). She’s already winning her first activist fight: In June, Boingo Wireless, provider of Wi-Fi hotspots, reached a settlement with Ides, agreeing to add three new directors—­including the first woman—after Ides criticized its board as “stale, pale, and male.” Boingo’s shares have risen more than 20% since ­McKeever announced the campaign.
