Just how influential is Jennifer Hegseth at the Pentagon? She's her husband Pete Hegseth's most important advisor, according to a NYT story that interviewed 20 people who know or work with her. She was in the room for a highly sensitive meeting with British intelligence about Ukraine. She's encouraged the defense secretary's barring of the media from the Pentagon (even though she's a former journalist). It's not clear if she has a security clearance.

Neutrogena finally says something about Hayden Panettiere. As calls to boycott the brand grew after the actress's death, the skincare brand (which had been silent since she said in May that it dropped her after she spoke about postpartum depression in 2015) put out a statement. "We are proud to have partnered with her and understand that we made her feel unsupported during a very difficult time,” it said. The brand added that it will make "a significant investment to a long-standing community health partner to help give more women access to the support they need."

Giorgia Meloni is about to become "the longest continually serving prime minister in the history of the Italian Republic." That's a record set with four years in office. In a rare interview, she says that she is "a person who imposes rules on herself" and she never says something she doesn't think.

Toyota is closing in on GM. The American automaker headed by CEO Mary Barra is increasing profits but selling fewer cars. GM now is selling just 100,000 more cars than Toyota, with the end of its 100-year reign as the biggest seller in the U.S. auto market in sight.

PARTING WORDS

"With everything that I do, I always learn something about myself or what I want to take on to the next thing. I just want to do something that’s going to scare me."
