The key to grabbing the doorbuster-like deals on Amazon’s Prime Day is speed. While the bargains aren’t quite what you’d see on Black Friday, the good ones go fast. And they often appear without any sort of warning.

That’s a problem for many shoppers, who don’t have all day to monitor the upcoming deals. And even those who do often miss them because of the avalanche of sales over the two-day retail event.

But if you’re looking for something specific, or wondering if the price you’re seeing is something special or just part of the ebb and flow that is Amazon pricing, there are a few tools that can make your Prime Day experience a bit easier.

To track Prime Day deals

Alexa

Amazon’s Echo devices often include some Prime Day bargains for people who strike up a conversation with the digital assistant. Ask “Alexa, what are my Prime Day deals?” from time to time throughout the day to get a summary of the latest offerings. And be sure to enable voice purchasing so you can grab them immediately.

Amazon app

You probably have Amazon’s app (available for Android and iOS) on your phone. But many people don’t realize it can be used to track deals. Set up a pre–Prime Day shopping list of things you might be interested in buying. Then go to the app’s settings menu, click notifications, and toggle alerts on for “Your Watched and Waitlisted Deals.” You can also select the “Watch this deal” button on upcoming items that catch your eye.

Amazon Assistant browser extension

Going to be on your laptop during Prime Day (well, days) for work? That doesn’t mean you can’t still hunt for bargains. This Chrome extension will send desktop notifications for deals you’re watching, much like the app.

Is the Prime Day price the best deal?

CamelCamelCamel.com

Amazon has so successfully promoted Prime Day in recent years that many shoppers believe that they’re getting the best possible price, regardless of what they buy. That’s not always true, though. If you’re not buying a necessity, it’s a good idea to double-check. CamelCamelCamel follows the price history of pretty much every product on Amazon, tracking its all-time high and low prices and giving Prime Day shoppers some perspective. You can also set alerts to find out when the price of your item of interest drops to a certain point.

Just browsing on Prime Day?

Deal-hunting sites

Prime Day can be overwhelming. If you’re determined to find the best deals, though, the group-sourced deal-tracking sites around the web, such as SlickDeals.net and Offers.com, are very helpful on Prime Day, as bargain hunters come together to find the best deals, though not necessarily on the items you had in mind.
