Love it or hate it, many businesses are open on Thanksgiving.

Despite the controversy that surrounds being open on this holiday, many retailers see the day as a chance to lure in those eager to get started on bargain hunting (especially in a year like 2019, where the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is six days shorter than last year). And for many grocery stores, staying open can make them heroes with their customers, who forgot to grab sage or green beans as they prepared for the feast.

Those shoppers are out of luck in three states. All stores in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island will be closed on Thanksgiving due to blue laws, which prohibit retailers from being open.

Whether you’re looking to shop for fun our out of necessity, here are the stores that will—and won’t—be open on Thanksgiving 2019. Note that hours may vary and some municipalities have laws affecting whether stores are allowed to open. It’s a good idea to call first.
