FBI Director James Comey rebuffed an official White House tweet about his congressional testimony—while he was still testifying to Congress.
Speaking to a House intelligence committee Monday, both Comey and National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers said that there was no evidence that Russian hackers interfered with the counting of votes in swing states that Trump narrowly won, including Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
The official @POTUS Twitter handle later tweeted a video clip of that moment to argue that he had told Congress “that Russia did not influence electoral process.”

Asked about that tweet later in the hearing, Comey said that was not exactly what he said.
“It certainly wasn’t our intention to say that today, because we don’t have any information on that subject. That’s not something that was looked at,” he said.
In fact, Comey and Rogers testified at the hearing that the FBI is investigating Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 election, including potential links with the Trump campaign.
