Jimmy Kimmel offered his take on the Best Picture mixup at the Oscars during his monologue on Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“As I’m sure you’ve at least heard, La La Land was simultaneously somehow the biggest winner and loser last night,” said Kimmel, who hosted the Oscars.

La La Land was mistakenly announced as the Best Picture winner during the ceremony on Sunday, even though Moonlight was the real winner. Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway had the envelope for Best Actress instead of Best Picture. The accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) took responsibility for the error, which became one of the most shocking moments in Oscars history.

“It was the weirdest TV finale since Lost,” Kimmel joked.

He explained that he had been sitting next to his fake arch nemesis Matt Damon in the audience, which is how he initially wanted to end the show. Watch the monologue above.
