The 2016 Preakness Stakes takes place on Saturday, May 21 and the post time for the race is 6:45 pm ET at the Pimlico race course in Maryland.
This will be the 141st running of the race, and coverage is slated to begin on NBC at 5 pm ET.
The race marks the second leg of the Triple Crown in which a horse attempts to win the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes. Nyquist is contending to win the distinction this year, having won the Kentucky Derby earlier in May. He remains the heavy favorite going into the Maryland event, as the Associated Press reported.
This year’s Preakness comes after a historic year in horse racing in 2015. American Pharoah was the first horse in 37 years to win the Triple Crown.
