Disney has officially broken ground on its two Star Wars-themed lands within Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios—and the Mouse is offering a 360-degree view of the construction site at its California park, complete with cameos by some beloved characters.
“In these all-new lands, guests will be transported to a never-before-seen planet inhabited by humanoids, droids, and many others,” Disney (DIS) said in a post featuring the panoramic sneak peek.
The Star Wars Lands will be the largest-ever single-themed land expansions at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World when they’re completed. There’s no set date for when that will be, yet.
Technically, Disneyland broke ground months ago, as you can see in the panoramic view. The company closed its Rivers of America attractions in January and went to work shortly thereafter demolishing the former rides and prepping the 14-acre site for its new world.
In Florida, Disney World cleared out an area near the Streets of America and the Lights, Motors, Action stunt show in Hollywood Studios and is also clearing the way to start construction, reported Theme Park Insider.
The new Star Wars Lands, on both coasts, will contain two central attractions: one featuring the Millennium Falcon and a second where guests will battle the First Order. It will also include a Cantina restaurant, character meet-and-greet areas, lots of retail, and (of course) special appearances by the likes of Darth Vader, R2-D, C3PO, BB-8, and others.
