If you bought a bottle of Trader Joe’s Triple Ginger Brew between November 9 and December 14, you might want to wear goggles when you go to open it.
The grocery chain has issued a voluntary recall of the product, “due to reports of unopened bottles potentially bursting.” In its press release, Trader Joe’s says the brew itself “does not pose a health risk if consumed.” There have been no reported injuries or illnesses apart from some customers reporting that the glasses shattered by surprise.
The drink comes in an old-fashioned spring-top bottle, similar to Grolsch beer. The company had no comment on the recall beyond its press release.
Food Safety News adds that customers “are encouraged to handle it with care and dispose of it immediately in an outside container.” If you bought a bottle or two during this time, Trader Joe’s will give you a refund at any location.
Or you could approach with caution, open it, and drink quickly.
