As May auto sales begin to roll in, Chrysler has started things with a bang, announcing the best sales month ever for its Jeep brand and reporting overall monthly sales totaling 194,421 vehicles in the U.S.
This represents a 17% jump from Chrysler’s May sales one year ago, and the automaker’s best May since 2007, before the financial crisis. Jeep’s sales were up 58%, making May the third consecutive month in which the brand posted its best month ever.
All of Chrysler’s brands were up for the month, according to the company’s news release. This was the 50th consecutive month that the manufacturer has posted year-over-year gains for sales.
Other major automakers, including General Motors, Ford, and Toyota, are expected to report May sales data later Tuesday.
