Vodafone (LSE: VOD) has agreed to acquire German cable operator Kabel Deutschland (DB: KD8) for €7.7 billion, which represents a 40% premium to where Kabel Deutschland had been trading prior to news reports of buyout offers. Liberty Global (Nasdaq: LBTY) also had submitted a preliminary takeover approach. www.vodafone.com

Eurasian Natural Resources Corp. (LSE: ENRC) has received a take-private offer from its founders and the Kazakhstan government, in a deal that would value the scandal-plagued mining and energy company at approximately £3 billion. www.enrc.com

Island Air, an airline operator that flies between Hawaii’s islands, is in talks to acquire rival Go! Airlines. Island Air was acquired earlier this year by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison. www.iszlandair.com

Mediobanca
 (BIT: MB) said that it plans to raise upwards of €1.5 billion via several divestitures. Included would be the sale of part of Mediobanca’s stakes in Italian insurance company Assicurazioni Generali and Italian telecom company Telecom Italia. www.mediobanca.it

Tenet Healthcare Corp.
 (NYSE: THC) has agreed to acquire Vanguard Health Systems Inc.(NYSE: VHS) for $4.3 billion (including debt). The $21 per share deal represents a 70% premium to Friday’s closing price for Vanguard stock. Selling shareholders include The Blackstone Group, which currently holds around a 38% stake in Vanguard. www.vanguardhealth.com

Blum Capital Partners and Pacific Equity Partners have retained BoA Merrill Lynch to find a buyer for Xtralis, an Ireland-based global provider of detection and remote visual verification safety and security solutions. www.xtralis.com

Cerberus Capital Management has sold North American Bus Industries Inc., an Anniston, Ala.–based maker of transit buses, to New Flyer (TSX: NFI). The deal was valued at approximately $80 million, almost all for the satisfaction of affiliate debt. www.nabiusa.com

Intuit (Nasdaq: INTU) has completed an acqui-hire of Elastic Intelligence, a provider of a real-time SaaS data access platform. No financial terms were disclosed. Elastic Intelligence had raised over $3 million in VC funding from Alsop Louie Partners and CAP-Ideawww.intuit.com

This is expected to be a big week for IPO pricings. Companies on the calendar include CDW, HD Supply, Esperion Therapeutics, Luxoft, NanoString Technologies, Prosensa, Regado Biosciences, Silvercrest Asset Management and Tremor Video.
