Affirmed Networks, an Acton, Mass.-based mobile networking startup, has raised $51 million in Series C funding. Bessemer Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by KCK Group and return backers Charles River Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, T-Venture and Vodafone Ventures. Akebia Therapeutics, a Cincinnati-based developer of small molecule drugs to treat anemia and cancer, has raised $41 million in Series C funding. Satter Investment Management led the round, and was joined by Novo ASc and return backers Novartis Venture Funds, Kearny Venture Partners, Venture Investors LLC, Athenian Venture Partners, Triathlon Medical Ventures, AgeChem Venture and Sigvion Capital Fund. Cheetah Medical Inc., a developer of non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring systems, has raised $14.5 million in new VC funding. Tiger Global Management has invested more than $30 million in a secondary share deal for event ticketing company Eventbrite, according to Reuters. The move comes after Tiger participated in a $60 million VC funding round for the company, which has raised over $130 million in total direct funding from Tiger, T. Rowe Price, Sequoia Capital, European Founders Fund and Tenaya Capital.www.eventbrite.com
