Natera, a San Carlos, Calif.-based provider of a non-invasive prenatal genetics test, has raised $54.6 million in new VC funding. OrbiMed Advisors and Harmony Partners co-led the round, and were joined by return backers Claremont Creek Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Founders Fund and Sequoia Capital. www.natera.com

Dwolla, a Des Moines, Iowa-based digital wire transfer service, has raised around $16.5 million in Series C funding. Andreessen Horowitz led the round, and was joined by return backers Village Ventures, Thrive Capital, and Union Square Ventures. www.dwolla.com

VMTurbo, a Burlington, Mass.-based provider of software-defined control  for cloud and virtualized environments, has raised $7.5 million in Series C funding. Globespan Capital led the round, and was joined by return backers Bain Capital Ventures and Highland Capital Partners. www.vmturbo.com

Curious, a matching platform for teachers and learners, has raised $7.5 million in VC funding.Redpoint Ventures led the round, and was joined by Curious founder Justin Kitch (whose last venture, Homestead, was acquired by Intuit for $170 million). www.curious.com

Pixability, a Cambridge, Mass.-based online video marketing company, has raised $4.1 million in new VC funding led by Quad/Graphics Inc. (NYSE: QUAD). Progress Partners served as placement agent.www.pixability.com

MindMixer, an Omaha-based online engagement platform for civic, education and healthcare organizations, has raised $4 million in new VC funding. Nelnet led the round, and was joined by return backers Dundee Venture Capital and Optimas Group. www.mindmixer.com

Workspot, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based bring-your-own-device solution for the mobile workplace, has raised $1.9 million in seed funding. Backers include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Norwest Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Peter Wagner and Gaurav Garg. www.workspot.com

Leap2, a Kansas City-based search platform that incorporates real-time social and local context, has raised $1.6 million in VC funding. Dundee Venture Capital led the round, and was joined by OpenAir Equity, Linseed Capital and Wichita Technology Corp. www.leap2search.com

AnTech Ltd., a UK-based developer of directional coiled tubing drilling products and services, has raised an undisclosed amount of VC funding from Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures and Calculus Capital. www.aramcoventures.com

Expect Labs, a San Francisco-based platform for powering “intelligent digital assistants,” has raised an undisclosed amount of VC funding from Intel Capital, Samsung Venture Investment Corp. andTelefonica Digital. www.expectlabs.com
