FORTUNE — It’s been more than a year since Drew Lipsher stopped running business development for Clear Channel Communications , after new CEO Bob Pittman began installing his own senior executives.

Fortune has learned that Lipsher recently found a landing spot: Executive recruiting giant Korn Ferry International (KFY), where he will be a senior client partner focused on digital media talent.

Lipsher left Clear Channel just nine months after joining, before which he spent nearly five years as a venture capitalist with Alan Patricof’s Greycroft Partners. He also has served as a senior corporate development exec with such companies as Interscope-Geffen-A&M, BMG Entertainment and News Corp. (NWSA).

“Spending so much time working with large media and entertainment companies, what you realize is that it’s all about talent and people,” Lipsher says. “Particularly as corporate balance sheets become more asset-light.”

Lipsher adds that much of his time will be spent doing C-suite client searches for media and entertainment companies, but that he also will spend time with other types of businesses that haven’t necessarily figured out their digital media strategies.

“Digital doesn’t just impact Google, it also matters for U.S. Steel and big-box retailers and financial services,” he explains. “So we want to have those types of conversations that may, or may not, lead to a search — rather than only coming in when a company has already identified a need.”
