BrightSource Energy, an Oakland-based thermal power plant developer, has raised more than $80 million in new equity funding. Return backers Alstom Power and VantagePoint Venture Partners co-led the round, and were joined by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, CalSTRS, DBL Investors, Goldman Sachs, Chevron Technology Ventures and BP Ventures. The company previously raised more than $360 million in VC funding, plus secured a $1.6 billion loan guarantee from the Department of Energy. BrightSource canceled a planned $152 million IPO earlier this year. www.brightsourceenergy.com

Thrasos Therapeutics, a Montreal-based drug developer focused on acute kidney injuries, has raised US$35 million in new VC funding. SR One led the round, and was joined by return backer SW Co. and new investors Advanced Technology Ventures (ATV), Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Lumira Capital, MP Healthcare Venture Management and Pappas Ventures. www.thrasos.com

Aclaris Therapeutics Inc., a Malvern, Penn.-based developer of dermatological therapeutics, has raised $21 million in Series A funding. Vivo Ventures and Fidelity Biosciences co-led the round, and were joined by Sofinnova Ventures. www.aclaristx.com

Decisyon Inc.,
a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based developer of performance management software, has secured $15 million in Series A funding ($10m call-down, $5m tranche for 2013). Axel Johnson Inc. led the round. www.decisyon.com

Dhingana
, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based online music platform for Indian music, has raised $7 million in Series B funding. Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by return backers Inventus Capital Partners and Helion Venture Partners. www.dhingana.com

WalkMe
, an Israeli provider of GPS-like tools for websites, has raised $5.5 million in new VC funding from Gemini Israel Ventures, Giza Venture Capital and Mangrove Capital Partners. www.walkme.com

HemoShear L
LC, a Charlottesville, Va.-based developer of human and animal cell-based surrogate systems for the discovery and assessment of new drug compounds, has raised over $4 million in fourth-round funding. No investor information was disclosed, except that most of them are “local to the Charlottesville area.” www.hemoshear.com

Eruditor Group
, a Russian online freelancer marketplace, has raised $4 million in Series A funding. Intel Capital led the round, and was joined by Runa Capital. www.eruditor-group.com

Datahug, an Ireland-based sales performance and business networking solution, has raised €2.5 million in Series A funding from DFJ Esprit. www.datahug.com

Health Essentials
, a Santa Ana, Calif.–based provider of post-acute care management services, has raised an undisclosed amount of venture funding from SV Life Sciences and Bessemer Venture Partners. www.healthessentials.com

Mirna Therapeutics Inc., an Austin, Texas-based developer of microRNA therapeutics in cancer, has raised $34.5 million in its first round of institutional funding. Sofinnova Ventures led the round, and was joined by new investors New Enterprise Associates, Pfizer Ventures, Osage University Partners and Correlation Ventures. Ferghana Partners served as placement agent. www.mirnarx.com

Rewarder, a San Francisco-based social marketplace that uses monetary rewards to find solutions for users, has raised $7 million in Series A funding co-led by Granite Ventures and Radar Partners.www.rewarder.com

Prepaid Expense Card Solutions Inc., a New York-based developer of a commercial prepaid card program focused on streamlining employee expenses, has raised $3.2 million in Series B funding. Return backer iNovia Capital led the round, and was joined by new investor Bluff Point Associates and Augury Capital. www.pexcard.com
