GitHub, an online code repository and community for developers, has raised $100 million from Andreessen Horowitz. It is the San Francisco-based company’s first outside round of funding. Read more.

Protean Electric, a developer of in-wheel electric drive systems, has raised $84 million in new VC funding. GSR Ventures led the round, and was joined by New Times Group, the Chinese city of Liyang, Jiangsu Province and return backer Oak Investment Partners. The UK-based company has satellite offices in Troy, Mich. and Germany. www.proteanelectric.com

EcoMotors International, a Troy, Mich.-based developer of opposed piston opposed cylinder engines, has raised $32.5 million in Series C funding. Braemar Energy Ventures led the round, and was joined by return backers Bill Gates and Khosla Ventures. www.ecomotors.com

Sonatype, a Silver Spring, Md.-based provider of component lifecycle management solutions, has raised $25 million in new VC funding. New Enterprise Associates led the round, and was joined by return backers Accel Partners, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Morgenthaler Ventures and Bay Partners. www.sonatype.com

Athletes’ Performance
, a Phoenix-based provider of performance training, nutrition and physical therapy for athletes, military and corporations, has raised $22.5 million from ABS Capital Partners. Existing company backers include Polaris Venture Partners. www.coreperformancewellness.com

Boundary, a San Francisco-based provider of cloud infrastructure management solutions, has raised $15 million in Series B funding. Scale Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by return backer Lightspeed Venture Partners. www.boundary.com

Paydiant, a Wellesley, Mass.-based white-label mobile payment and offer redemption platform , has raised $12 million in Series B funding. Stage 1 Ventures led the round, and was joined by return backers North Bridge Venture Partners and General Catalyst Partners. www.paydiant.com

Cardiosolutions Inc
., a Stoughton, Mass.-based developer of medical devices for percutaneous patients with mitral valve regurgitation, has raised $8 million in VC funding from Sorin Group (Milan: SRN). Existing company shareholders include STD Med and BioVentures Investors. www.cardiosolutions.com

Seculert, an Israeli network threat detection company , has raised $5.35 million in new VC funding. Norwest Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by return backer YL Ventures. www.seculert.com

KnowledgeTree, a Raleigh, N.C.-based provider of cloud-based business document creation, sharing and management solutions, has raised $4.75 million in Series B funding. Backers include River Cities Capital Funds, Core Capital Partners, Hatteras Funds and existing shareholder Hasso Plattner Ventures. www.knowledgetree.com

ThriveHive, a Cambridge, Mass.-based marketing platform for local small businesses, has raised $1.5 million in seed funding. Backers include Founder Collective, The Birchaven Group and IBCC. www.thrivehive.com

Jack & Jake’s, the developer of of a sustainable foods system in the New Orleans area, has raised $225,000 in VC funding. Keller Enterprises led the round, and was joined by Social Venture Fund, Amcref Community Capital and invididual angels. www.jackandjakes.com

Betable, a London-based real-money gaming platform, has raised an undisclosed amount of new funding from Greylock Discovery Fund, FF Angel, True Ventures and Yuri Milner. The company previously raised $3 million in a round led by Atomico. www.betable.com
