Morgan Jones leaves Battery Ventures

Morgan Jones is out at Battery Ventures, which he joined more than 15 years ago as a general partner.

Jones quietly transitioned to a senior advisor role earlier this year, after having led the firm’s industrial technologies practice. His portfolio company board seats were Achronix (field programmable gate arrays), Nova Instruments (measurement systems for fluid and solid mechanics) and Nova Metrix (testing and geotechnical instrumentation).

Past deals included Nova Analytics (acquired by ITT), Nova Technologies (IDEX), Finisar (Nasdaq: FNSR), Optium (NasdaqQ: OPTM), Luminus Devices, Qtera (Nortel), Veraz (Nasdaq: VRAZ), Movius, Akara (Ciena) and Red Sky Systems (Global Marine).

Prior to joining Battery, Jones was a captain in the U.S. Air Force. He was one of nine general partners at Battery, which currently is investing out of a $750 million fund raised in late 2009.

No word yet on why Jones stepped down, or what he plans to do next.
