Daily inspiration

It is a beautiful 70 degrees in Midtown Manhattan this morning, and I’ve realized that makes me feel like I have a whole new lease on life. All week, I’ve actually taken the above-ground route to work, instead of scampering my way through the labyrinth of the Rockefeller Center concourse like some sad naked mole rat. Suddenly, the autopilot is off, I wore pink this morning, and wonder of wonders, women are daring to show a little leg.

It’s funny, considering that I’d planned to write today about what gets us going in the morning. Doing the blog—all one week of it—has become a little pick-me-up for my brain. It’s a bit like doing those “learn to write fiction” exercises, minus the embarrassment of trying to imagine yourself as a rock or a flower. Or like those brainteasers we’re now supposed to do to hold off Alzheimer’s. (For a little fun, go calculate your “brain age” at MyBrainTrainer. If you weren’t worried about your mental productivity before, you sure will be when you find out you have the intellectual reflexes of your granddad.)

So on my list of morning motivators: 1) sun, 2) The Gig (hah), 3) silly music, most recently some cute girl anthems (Carrie Underwood busting up cars, Amy Winehouse eschewing rehab…). What about you?

And while you ponder, a call for what you want to hear about. As fun as it is to stretch my Gen Y story into perpetuity, there’s a whole world of business out there, and I’d love to hear what you guys want us to explore. Hit me here, or at nhira@fortunemail.com, and happy almost holiday weekend!
