Robert Hackett

Robert Hackett is a senior writer and tech editor at Fortune. He is a co-chair of the Brainstorm Tech and Brainstorm Finance conferences and creator of The Ledger, Fortune’s crypto franchise. Robert co-authors Fortune's daily technology newsletter Data Sheet and weekly fintech newsletter The Ledger, and he frequently hosts video series. He writes on a variety of topics ranging from hacking to quantum computing to crypto. Robert received national recognition for his reporting, including as a finalist for the 2018 Larry Birger Young Business Journalist Award. He has helped manage the Fortune 40 Under 40 list since joining in 2014. Previously, Robert worked at Nautilus Magazine, TED Conferences, and Johnson & Johnson. He earned a master’s degree from Columbia Journalism School and a bachelor’s degree with a double major in chemistry and English and a double minor in science and technology studies and history from Cornell University.
