Titles included in this roundup: CEOs (Chief Executive Officers), CFOs (Chief Financial Officers), COOs (Chief Operating Officers), CMOs (Chief Marketing Officers), and Chief Customer Officers. We also include CTOs (Chief Technology Officers), CIOs (Chief Information Officers), CHROs (Chief Human Resources Officers), and Chief People Officers when there are Power Moves within the Fortune 500 announced pertaining to those roles. Business services

  • Waste Management (No. 179)  appointed John J. Morris Jr. CEO, effective Jan. 4, 2027. Morris currently serves as President and previously served as COO of the company. He will succeed James C. Fish Jr., who will serve in an advisory role until mid-February before retiring after more than 25 years at the company. 

Energy

  • Targa Resources (No. 262) appointed Benjamin J. Branstetter CFO, effective Sept. 1. He previously served as President of Logistics and Transportation at the company and will succeed William A. Byers, who will retire as CFO but will remain with the company in a nonexecutive capacity through the end of the year.

Food, beverages, and tobacco

  • Hormel Foods (No. 363) named Ash Bhumbla EVP and CFO, effective Sept. 8. Bhumbla joins from Tyson Foods (No. 87), where he was most recently SVP and CFO of the company’s chicken business. He succeeds interim CFO Paul Kuehneman, who will remain VP, Controller, and Principal Accounting Officer and was appointed after former CFO Jacinth Smiley left the company in October 2025.

Retailers

  • Kohl’s (No. 289) appointed Arianne Parisi to the newly created role of Chief Customer Officer. Parisi previously served as Chief Digital Officer. The appointment came as the company announced the departure of Chief Marketing Officer Christie Raymond.

Technology

  • Micron Technology (No. 125) appointed Manish Bhatia President and COO. He previously served as EVP of Global Operations and joined the memory-chip maker in 2017. Bhatia is the company’s first COO since 2012.
