After announcing a host of new benefits for employees including a bump in pay, Walmart shared plans to close 63 of its Sam’s Club locations across the country.
Each Sam’s Club location employs roughly 175 people, meaning the move could make as many as 11,000 people unemployed. Some of the locations will remain owned by Walmart and will instead be used as e-commerce distribution centers. Employees of the closed locations will reportedly have the opportunity to apply for those jobs.
