Ford is leading the race when it comes to self-driving cars.
A new research report from Navigant concluded that the auto giant is ahead of 17 other companies when it comes to automated vehicle development, including Silicon Valley based Uber and Google’s Waymo. Navigant determined the rankings after analyzing each company’s vision, market strategy, production strategy, technology, product quality and reliability, and more.
After Ford, GM, Renault-Nissan Alliance, Daimler, and Volkswagen Group make the top five. Waymo is ranked at number 7 and Hyundai Motor Group rounds off the top ten.
Ford’s Vice President of Product Development Raj Nair, who is also the company’s chief technology officer, praised the group’s top ranking in a Medium post on Monday. He also explained what’s next for Ford.
“I’m proud of the work our team is doing to lead the self-driving revolution, and we are honored by the recognition that we’re getting along the way,” Nair wrote.
