Federal officials have praised Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer in recent days and said they do not blame her or her company for a massive data breach of millions of the site’s accounts.
Mayer exhibited “great leadership and courage while under intense pressure from many entities,” FBI San Francisco Division Special Agent in Charge Jack Bennett said on Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reports. According to the paper, federal officials said the tech company is a “victim” in an “unfair fight” against state-sponsored hackers.
On Wednesday, the Justice Department charged four people, including Russian spies, in connection with the Yahoo data breach.
