This episode of our Tech Debate series explores Google’s ongoing battles with hate speech in Europe.

Fortune digital editor Andrew Nusca and tech writer Jeff John Roberts debate whether or not Google needs to do more to stop hate speech on its platforms. Roberts says Google has too many users to inspect outliers and prevent hate speech. He adds that he thinks Europe is blaming YouTube for its larger societal ills.

Nusca argues that there has been a breakdown in the process and that hate speech needs to be cleaned up because it is illegal. He also says that while freedom of speech should be respected, hate speech should be better regulated.
