Fries Are the Only Thing on the Menu at This McDonald’s

McDonald’s (MCD) opened a pop-up location in Sydney, Australia over the weekend that exclusively served French fries. The restaurant opened its doors last Friday (Friday/fry day, get it?) and unfortunately closed just a couple of days later.

It was called Fries With That and was a way for the chain to test new variations of its iconic French fries on customers. According to a menu obtained by PopSugar, there were seven different toppings: Chipotle Cheese Sauce, Gravy, Pesto Mayo & Parmesan, Peri Peri Cheese Sauce, Curry, Caesar Sauce Bacon & Parmesan, and Sweet Chili & Sour Cream. Customers were asked to vote for their favorite, and a tweet from McDonald’s Australia suggested that the fan favorite could make it onto local menus.

McDonald’s has experimented with a couple of different French fry toppings this year. In January customers in Japan were introduced to the “McChoco Potato,” which is essentially a serving of the regular fries topped with chocolate sauce. A more common topping, garlic puree, is currently being tested in the Bay Area. The Gilroy Garlic Fries, as they’re being called, have already proved to be incredibly popular, to the point where the chain couldn’t even keep up with customer demand.

McDonald’s could not immediately be reached for comment.
