You think you’re getting a slice in Brooklyn without paying an Obamacare fee? To quote the sign you read when driving into Manhattan, Fuggedaboutit!

Franny’s, a popular pizza shop in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of the borough of Kings, is adding a 3% surcharge to cover the cost of the Affordable Care Act, reports Eater.

The law, generally known as Obamacare, mandates that all businesses with 50 or more employees provide a health care plan or pay a fine of $2,000 per employee. The same company that owns Franny’s owns other restaurants, pushing them over the limit.

In an e-mail to customers, the owners of Franny’s does say that the laws are “wonderful things in dozens of ways.” The restaurant is also raising its prices —not only due to the ACA charges, but also due to an increasing minimum wage in New York State.
