As Facebook continues to pack in more and more kinds of content into your feed, it’s only natural it helps you better filter through what you care about more.

Enter the updated notifications tab on mobile, which Facebook unveiled on Tuesday on its blog. Now users will be able to customize the kinds of content they want to receive notifications about, including the usual like friends’ activities and upcoming events, as well as new categories like local events, weather updates, and recommendations of local restaurants.

Despite Facebook’s (FB) ongoing claim that its sophisticated algorithms filter each user’s News Feed to show them only content they want to see, Tuesday’s move is a tacit nod from the company that a cheat sheet that can be customized is needed. As much as we enjoy spending absurd amounts of time scrolling through our seemingly unlimited New Feeds, sometimes we just need to be alerted when the things we really care about happen.

The new notification tab will be gradually rolling out to all Android and iPhone users in the U.S., according to Facebook.
