Here’s what happened to the woman who invented stuffed-crust pizza

Patty Scheibmeir invented stuffed-crust pizza for Pizza Hut in the 1990s. Now, she wants to change the pizza industry yet again, Bloomberg reports.

How? As president of research and development for pizza brand Pie Five, the food scientist is working on ways to bring fresh ingredients and customizable menus to larger chains.

“We can make things happen much faster,” Scheibmeir said in an interview. “At Pizza Hut, there was a hesitancy to try things. This is a much smaller team, and we don’t mind putting stuff out there and seeing if it works.”
