Stephen Colbert’s first week heading up “The Late Show” on CBS can already be considered a success. Nearly 6.6 million viewers tuned in for the Tuesday night premiere, making it the evening’s most-watched late night program.
In those nearly 90 minutes of television, Colbert has gotten in at least a dozen Donald Trump jokes, and even Jeb Bush got into the act with his own Trump imitation on Tuesday. “The Late Show” has been an “all you can Trump buffet,” and Colbert joked that “just like the rest of the media, I’ll be covering all the presidential candidates…who are Donald Trump.”
And now, Colbert will be welcoming the man himself onto the “Late Night” soundstage on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Trump will be one of two guests featured that night. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, who helped broker the recent Iran deal, will also appear on the talk show.
