There’s a big — and we mean big — real estate opportunity now available in Chicago: The Willis Tower is up for sale.
At 1,451 feet, the skyscraper formerly known as the Sears Tower is the second-tallest building in the United States — only New York City’s 1,792-foot One World Trade Center is taller, thanks to a controversial 2013 decision calling its apex a “spire” instead of an “antenna.”
The owners of the Willis Tower building confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that they’re looking for potential buyers and had retained real estate firm Eastdil Secured to market the 84% occupied office building.
Willis Tower was bought by its current owners for $841 million in 2004. It’s expected to sell for more than $1 billion, the Journal reports.
