Venture Capital Deals

Databricks, a Berkeley, Calif.-based cloud platform built around Apache Spark, has raised $33 million in Series B funding. New Enterprise Associates led the round, and was joined by return backer Andreessen Horowitz. www.databricks.com

Liquid Environmental Solutions, a San Diego-based non-hazardous liquid waste services company,, has raised $31.6 million in Series C funding led by ABS Capital Partners. www.liquidenviro.com

Milk Mantra, an Indian dairy foods company, has raised approximately $13.3 million in Series C funding. Fidelity Growth Partners India led the round, and was joined by Aavishkaar India II Co. Some of the proceeds were used to purchase shares from existing angel investors and Aavishkaar India Micro Venture Capital Fund. Unitas Capital served as placement agent. www.milkmantra.com

Streetline Inc., a Foster City, Calif.-based smart parking startup, has raised $10 million in new VC funding. RockPort Capital Partners was joined by return backers Sutter Hill Ventures, Fontinalis Partners and True Ventures. www.streetline.com

Tapad, a New York-based provider of cross-device marketing solutions, has raised $7 million in Series B -2 funding. FirstMark Capital led the round, and was joined by fellow return backers Firsthand Technology Value Fund and Avalon Ventures. New investors included Battery Ventures and G&H Partners. www.tapad.com

Automated Insights, a Durham, N.C.-based developer of real-time content automation solutions, has raised $5.5 million in new VC funding. Osage Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by Samsung Ventures, Steve Case and IDEA Fund Partners. www.automatedinsights.com

ArtBinder, a New York-based digital app for art galleries to present artwork, has raised $3.17 million in Series A funding led by Index Ventures. Other investors include Leon Black, Matt Cohler, Gruce Gibney, David Rosenblatt and Julio Pekarovic. www.artbinder.com

Private Equity Deals

CCMP Capital Partners completed its previously-announced acquisition of The Hillman Cos., a Cincinnati-based maker of bolts and other hardware and home improvement products, from Oak Hill Capital Partners. The deal valued Hillman at $1.475 billion, with Oak Hill retaining a minority equity stake. www.hillmangroup.com

H-D Advanced Manufacturing Co.
, a Pittsburgh-based platform for acquiring high-precision manufacturing companies, has acquired Sungear Inc., a San Diego-based maker of gears and assemblies for the aerospace industry. No financial terms were disclosed. H-D Advanced Manufacturing is a portfolio company of The Riverside Company, Hicks Equity Partners andWeinberg Capital Group. www.riversidecompany.com

Involta LLC
, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based managed IT, cloud computing and data services company, has raised $50 million in equity funding. M/C Partners led the round, and was joined by Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners. www.involta.com

Marlin Equity Partners
 has acquired Longview Solutions, a Toronto-based provider of corporate performance management and tax provisioning software to enterprise customers. No financial terms were disclosed. www.longview.com

Qualium Investissement
 has acquired Groupe Poult, a French private label manufacturer of sweet
biscuits. No financial terms were disclosed, except that European Capital provided E26 million in mezzanine financing. www.biscuits-poult.com

Tolt Solutions, a Greenville, S.C.-based portfolio company of Clearlake Capital Group, has acquired the Unity Managed Network Services business of iPass Inc. (Nasdaq: IPAS) for $28.2 million.www.toltsolutions.com

IPOs

Ambrx Inc., a La Jolla, Calif.-based developer of protein therapeutics known as bio-conjugates, has withdrawn IPO registration due to “market conditions.” The company had planned to offer 5.4 million shares at between $12 and $14 per share, with Stifel and Wells Fargo Securities serving as lead underwriters. It reports a $17 million net loss on $17 million in collaboration revenue for 2013, compared to $22 million in net income on $44 million in collaboration revenue for 2012. Shareholders include Tavistock BIO (19.3% pre-IPO stake), Maverick Capital (17.4%), Apposite Healthcare Fund (9.5%), Versant Ventures (7.5%), 5AM Ventures (6.9%), Roche (6.2%) and Merck (5.2%). www.ambrx.com

Argo Medical Technologies
, an Israeli maker of robotic “legs” for paraplegics, has hired Jefferies to help lead a U.S. IPO that could raise more than $50 million later this year, according to Bloomberg. Last week the company received regulatory approval for its “ReWalk” exoskeleton device. Shareholders include PReviz Ventures, Proseed Venture Capital, Vitalife Life Sciences Venture Capital and Yaskawa Electric Corp. www.rewalk.com

Avalanche Biotechnologies
, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based developer of gene therapies for sight-
threatening ophthalmic diseases, has filed for an $86.25 million IPO. It plans to trade on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol AAVL, with Jefferies, Cowen & Co. and Piper Jaffray serving as lead underwriters. Shareholders in the pre-revenue company include Zytech LLC (37% pre-IPO stake) and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. (9.1%). www.avalanchebiotech.com

Loxo Oncology Inc.
, a Stamford, Conn.-based developer of small-molecule therapeutics for cancer treatment, has filed for a $69 million IPO. It plans to trade on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol LOXO, with Cowen & Co. and Stifel serving as lead underwriters. Shareholders in the pre-revenue company include Aisling Capital (29% pre-IPO stake), OrbiMed Advisors (18.1%), Array BioPharma (15.3%) and New Enterprise Associates (14.9%). www.loxooncology.com

Minerva Neurosciences
, a Cambridge, Mass.-based developer of CNS drugs, raised $33 million in its IPO. The company priced 5.5 million shares at $6 per share, and will trade the Nasdaq under ticker symbol NERV. Jefferies served as lead underwriter. Shareholders in the pre-revenue company include Index Ventures (42.2% pre-IPO stake), Care Capital (41.2%) and ProteoSys AG (5.7%).www.minervaneurosciences.com

Viamet Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Durham, N.C.-based developer of antifungal agents, has filed for a $75 million IPO. It plans to trade on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol VIAM, with Piper Jaffray, Stifel and Wells Fargo serving as lead underwriters. The company reported a $7.8 million net loss on $1 million in revenue for 2013. Shareholders include Novartis Bioventures (25.1% pre-IPO stake), Lilly Ventures (21.9%), Hatteras Ventures (15%), Intersouth Partners (12.1%) and A&B Equity Holdings (10%). www.viamet.com

Yodlee Inc., a Redwood City, Calif.-based cloud platform for digital financial services, filed for a $75 million IPO. It plans to trade on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol YDLE, with Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and BofA Merrill Lynch serving as lead underwriters. The company reports a $1.2 million net loss on $70 million in revenue for 2013. Shareholders include Warburg Pincus (37.18% pre-IPO stake), Bank of America (12.71%), Institutional Venture Partners (12.64%), S1 Corp. (12.63%) and Accel Partners (9.25%). www.yodlee.com

M&A

American Securities has sold Healthy Directions LLC, a Potomac, Md.-based direct-to-consumer retailer of doctor-formulated nutritional supplements and skincare products, to Helen of Troy LLC(Nasdaq: HELE) for approximately $195 million. www.healthydirections.com

Hormel Foods Corp. (NYSE: HRL) has agreed to acquire CytoSport Holdings Inc., the Benicia, Calif.-based maker of Muscle Milk products, from TSG Consumer Partners and Partnership Growth Capital for approximately $450 million. Read more.

Ampersand Capital Partners has sold ViraCor-IBT Laboratories, a Lee’s Summit, Mo.-based infectious disease testing lab, to Eurofins Scientific (Paris: ERF) for $255 million. www.viracor.com

Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) has acquired TapCommerce, a New York-based mobile ad retargeting company. No financial terms were disclosed, but Re/Code puts the price-tag at around $100 million. TapCommerce had raised just over $11 million in VC funding from Bain Capital Ventures, RRE Ventures, Nielsen Ventures, Metamorphic Ventures, Eniac Ventures and Nextview Ventures.www.tapcommerce.com

Evonik Industries (DB: EVK), a German chemicals company, has agreed to acquire a 9% stake in football club Borussia Dortmund. www.evonik.com

PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has completed its previously-announced acquisition of Masterwork Paint Co., a Pittsburgh-based architectural paint distributor. No financial terms were disclosed.www.ppg.com

PPG Industries
 (NYSE:PPG) has agreed to acquire Consorcio Comex, a Mexico City-based architectural and industrial coatings company, for $2.3 billion. www.ppg.com

Rdio
, a San Francisco-based provider of an unlimited on-demand social music service, has acquiredTastemakerX, a San Francisco-based music discovery app. No financial terms were disclosed. Rdio has raised around $17.5 million in VC funding from Atomico, Skype and Mangrove Capital Partners. TastemakerX had raised around $3 million from AOL Ventures, Baseline Ventures, True Ventures and Guggenheim Venture Partners. www.tastemakerx.com
