Venture Capital Deals

Kobalt Music Group, a UK-based music royalties collection platform, has raised $140 million in new funding from such firms as Balderton Capital and MSD Capital, according to TechCrunch.

Yext, a New York-based provider of geomarketing software to local businesses and large enterprises, has raised $50 million in new VC funding. Insight Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by return backers Sutter Hill Ventures and Institutional Venture Partners. Yext previously raised around $65 million.

Invaluable, a Boston-based online live auction marketplace, has raised $33.75 million in Series D funding. Insight Venture Partners led the round, and was joined by return backers Ascent Venture Partners and Commonwealth Capital Ventures. www.invaluable.com

Revolution Foods, an Oakland, Calif.-based provider of fresh meals to school cafeterias (and prepackaged meals via supermarkets), has raised an undisclosed amount of VC funding fromRevolution Growth (no prior relation between the two groups). The NY Times reports that the investment is for around $30 million. www.revolutionfoods.com

Trevi Therapeutics Inc., a New Haven, Conn.-based developer of treatments for chronic pruritus conditions, has raised $25 million in Series B funding led by TPG Biotech. The round is tranched out, with a $15 million call-down at closing. www.trevitherapeutics.com

Octro
, an Indian mobile multiplayer gaming company, has raised $15 million in Series A funding fromSequoia Capital. www.octro.com

Gild, a San Francisco-based platform for finding and hiring engineers, has raised $13.5 million in Series B funding. Menlo Ventures led the round, and was joined by Globespan Capital Partners, SAP Ventures and Correlation Ventures. www.gild.com

TrialScope, a Jersey City, N.J.-based provider of clinical trial transparency and compliance solutions, has raised $10 million in new VC funding. Edison Ventures led the round, and was joined by Dublin Capital Partners and NewSpring Capital. In related news, TrialScope has acquired substantially all Deloitte Analytics LLC assets. www.trialscope.com

Profitero
, a Dublin, Ireland-based provider of online insight and ecommerce intelligence SaaS solutions for retailers and brands, has raised $8 million in VC funding from Polaris Partners. www.profitero.com

Siftit, an Atlanta-based mobile restaurant ordering platform, has raised $4 million in Series A funding led by TechOperators. www.siftit.com

RigUp Inc.
, an Austin, Texas-based tech platform for oilfield operators and service companies, has raised $3 million in seed funding, according to VentureWire. Founders Fund led the round, and was joined by Great Oaks Venture Capital and BoxGroup. www.rigup.com

ImageBrief, a request-based stock photo online marketplace, has raised $750,000 in new seed funding from Great Oaks Venture Capital. The company now has raised a total of $3.2 million.www.imagebrief.com

WhoKnows, a Mountain View, Calif.-based platform for expertise discovery and knowledge retention, has raised an undisclosed amount of new Series A funding from Intel Capital. The company previously raised Series A funding from PivotNorth Capital, the Citrix Startup Accelerator and individual angels.www.whoknows.com

Private Equity Deals

Aasonn LLC, a Naperville, Ill.–based provider of HR and talent management solutions, has raised $20 million in equity funding from LLR Partners. www.aasonn.com

Albireo Energy, a portfolio company of Huron Capital Partners, has acquired Energy Options Inc., an Edison, N.J.-based provider of building automation and energy services. No financial terms were disclosed. www.huroncapital.com

American Securities
is in “advanced talks” to acquire Emerald Performance Materials LLC, a Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based specialty chemicals company, from Sun Capital Partners for more than $1 billion, according to Reuters. www.emeraldmaterials.com

The Carlyle Group
has “entered into exclusive negotiations” to acquire a 75% stake in Homair Vacances (Paris: ALHOM), a French mobile home operator, from Montefiore Investment (which would reinvest as a minority shareholder), according to the FT. www.homair.com

DRB Systems
, a n Akron, Ohio–based provider of software solutions to the car wash industry, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Prairie Capital. www.drbsystems.com

Golden Gate Capital
has completed its previously-announced sale of restaurant chain On TheBorder Mexican Grill & Cantina to Argonne Capital Group and an affiliate of Fortress Investment Group. No financial terms were disclosed. On The Border currently operates 121 units in the U.S., and has franchised 36 other locations (including in Saudi Arabia and South Korea). www.ontheborder.com

J.H. Whitney
has acquired C.J. Foods Inc., a Bern, Kansas-based maker of super-premium dry pet foods, from Trinity Hunt Partners. No pricing terms were disclosed. Golub Capital provided leveraged financing. www.extrudedpetfood.com

SMG Holdings Inc., a West Conshohocken, Penn.-based provider of entertainment and conference venue management services, has acquired Premier Food Services, a provider of outsourced food and beverage services in southern California. No financial terms were disclosed, SMG Holdings is a portfolio company of American Capital. www.smgworld.com

Summit Partners and FleetCor Technologies (NYSE: FLT) have formed a joint venture to acquireMasternaut Group Holdings Ltd., a UK-based provider of telematics solutions to commercial fleets. No financial terms were disclosed. www.summitpartners.com

IPOs

Travelport, an Atlanta-based online travel commerce marketplace owned by The Blackstone Group, has filed for a $100 million IPO (likely a placeholder figure). It plans to trade under ticker symbol TVPT, with Morgan Stanley listed as left lead underwriter. The company reports $95 million in net income for 2013 on around $2.03 billion in revenue. In addition to Blackstone, Travelport shareholders include Technology Crossover Ventures, One Equity Partners and Morgan Stanley. www.travelport.com

CareDx (f.k.a. XDx), a Brisbane, Calif.-based developer of a diagnostic surveillance solution for heart transplant recipients, has filed for a $50 million IPO. It plans to trade on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol CDNA, with Piper Jaffray and Leerink Partners serving as lead underwriters. The company reports a $3.5 million net loss on around $22.1 million in revenue for 2013. CareDx had raised over $120 million in VC funding from such firms as Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (17% pre-IPO stake), TPG Biotech (16.5%), Sprout Group (11.1%), Intel Capital (10.2%), Burrill & Co. (9.4%), DAG Ventures (7.3%) and Integral Capital Partners (5.6%). www.caredx.com

Markit Ltd., a London-based provider of financial information services, has set its IPO terms to 45.71 million shares being offered at between $23 and $25 per share. It would have an initial market cap of approximately $4.25 billion, were it to price in the middle of its range. The company plans to trade on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol MRKT, with BofA Merrill Lynch is listed as left lead underwriter. Markit reports $948 million in 2013 revenue, compared to $861 million in revenue for 2012. Shareholders include Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Esta Investments, General Atlantic, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase. www.markit.com

M&A

Aduro BioTech has AMS (SWX: AMS) has agreed to acquire AppliedSensor, a Germany–based provider of solid-state chemical gas sensor solutions, from Verdane Capital. No pricing terms of the all-cash deal were disclosed. www.ams.com

Cinven
has sold UK psychiatric hospitals group Partnerships in Care for £394 million to Acadia Healthcare (Nasdaq: ACHC). www.acadiahealthcare.com

PAI Partners and GECOS have agreed to sell Nuance Group, a Switzerland-based chain of duty-free retail outlets, to rival Dufry AG (SWX: DUFN) for approximately $1.7 billion. www.thenuancegroup.com

Dai-ichi Life Co., a Japanese life insurance company, has agreed to buy Birmingham, Ala.-basedProtective Life Corp. (NYSE: PL) for $5.7 billion, or $70 per share in cash (19% premium over yesterday’s closing price. Protective Life closed trading Friday with a market cap just north of $4.1 billion. Read more

Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) has acquired Pryte, a Finnish mobile data plan startup, for an undisclosed amount. Read more

Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. (NYSE: PPC) has increased its offer for Hillshire Brands Inc. (NYSE: HSH) from around $5.52 billion to $6.7 billion. This tops a rival $6.13 billion offer from Tyson Foods Inc.(NYSE: TSN). Read more
