Providence Equity Partners has acquired a “significant” minority equity stake The Chernin Group, a media production and investment group led by Peter Chernin (ex-president/COO of News Corp.). No financial terms were disclosed, although the FT puts the investment at approximately $200 million, and reports that Chernin Group had been working with Providence last year on a possible bid for Yahoo.
