Fab.com, a New York-based flash sales site, has raised $40 million in Series B funding. Andreessen Horowitz led the round, and was joined by return backers Menlo Ventures, First Round Capital, Baroda Ventures, SoftTech VC and A-Grade Investments. The deal was done at a $200 million valuation, according to the Wall Street Journal. www.fab.com

Plum District, a San Francisco-based online daily deal site for mothers, has raised $20 million in Series C funding. General Catalyst Partners led the round, and was joined by fellow return backer Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and new investors Comcast Ventures and Duke University. Plum District also announced that it has acquired daily deal sites Chatterfly Inc. and DoodleDeals Inc.www.plumdistrict.com

Aratana Therapeutics
, a Kansas City-based developer of medicines for companion animals, has raised $15 million in Series B funding. The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation was joined by return backers MPM Capital, Avalon Ventures and Cultivian Ventures. The company previously raised $16 million.www.aratanatherapeutics.com

Edmodo
, a San Mateo, Calif.-based provider of a free and secure network for teachers and students in K12 schools, has raised $15 million in Series B funding. Greylock Partners and Benchmark Capital co-led the round, and were joined by return backers Union Square Ventures and Learn Capital.www.edmodo.com

Martini Media, a San Francisco-based digital media platform for engaging “affluencers,” has raised $13 million in new VC funding. Granite Ventures led the round, and was joined by return backers Reed Elsevier Ventures, Silicon Valley Bank and Venrock. www.martinimediainc.com

Cross Pixel Media Inc., a New York-based provider of audience data for the online advertising industry, has raised around $1.5 million in Series A funding led by ad agency Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal + Partners, according to VentureWire. www.crosspixel.net
