— Jake DeSantis, an EVP in AIG’s financial products unit, in a resignation letter yesterday to AIG chief Ed Liddy. The letter, published in Wednesday’s New York Times, is riveting. DeSantis tells Liddy that he’ll donate his bonus–whatever sum he manages to pocket after potentially punitive U.S. taxes– “to those suffering from the global economic downturn.” DeSantis, who doesn’t know Liddy, writes that he worked for AIG for 11 years, never had anything to do with those toxic credit default swaps that sunk the company, and feels betrayed by Liddy’s failure to stand up for him and his colleagues.–Jessica Shambora
