She began her media career in Vancouver, Canada, as a staff editor and writer for Western Living, and later Vancouver Magazine, before jumping to Institutional Investor in New York. Her bylines have appeared in numerous publications, including The Atlantic, the Globe and Mail, the National Post, and Vanity Fair. Lila studied journalism at Concordia University in Montreal and spent three years teaching English in Sapporo, Japan. She has an MFA in creative nonfiction from The New School in Manhattan.
